Why Junoon Exists

3 min read

Why every practice on Junoon has to survive one question before it makes the app.

I didn't build Junoon to repackage five thousand years of practice as content. I built it because most of what actually works today, someone already worked out.

Charaka mapped digestion into a system of fires centuries before anyone used the phrase gut health. Patanjali named a single precise mental state, chitta vritti nirodha, that focus research is still re-deriving with new vocabulary. Svātmārāma tied breath directly to mental state long before anyone measured vagal tone. None of that is coincidence. It's a long line of people paying close attention to the same nervous system you have.

So every practice on Junoon traces back to a specific person who wrote down what they observed, and I only kept what still holds up when you ask why it works. That's the actual filter. Not "it's old." Plenty of old practices don't survive that question. Only the ones where the mechanism checks out.

It's also why the coach in this app leads with the reason, not the ritual. If it points you to nadi shodhana, that's not because it's traditional. It's because alternate nostril breathing does something specific and measurable to your nervous system, and the tradition happened to notice first.

I'm still adding to this, not just archiving it. What you're reading from me here is the same practice, applied to now.
