What Five Thousand Years Actually Buys You

3 min read

What Krishnamacharya's three very different students teach about how this coach actually works.

Krishnamacharya taught the same yoga three completely different ways depending on who was in front of him. Iyengar got precision and alignment because that's what his body needed. Pattabhi Jois got repetition and heat. Same source, different prescriptions, because Krishnamacharya was treating the person, not performing the tradition.

That's the part of this lineage I think about the most while building the coach in this app. Five thousand years of practice doesn't hand you one correct sequence. It hands you a very long track record of people adjusting the same underlying tools to the person in front of them and writing down what worked. The tools stayed consistent: breath, movement, attention, daily structure. The application never did.

So when the coach adjusts your plan instead of handing you a fixed program, that's not a tech feature bolted onto old content. That's the actual practice. Krishnamacharya would have found a fixed 30-day program stranger than an app that changes what it recommends based on how your week actually went.
